The famous, or infamous, Coral Sea Visit of 1964
Music - The song Black is Black was very popular in Olongapo in the late 60's.  The words were somewhat amended to: Black is black, I want my panties back. . .  Ah, youth!

CF Proud and Phil Carter c. 1966 with Thelma Caloma, ? and no relation to either of us.  The baby bottle is CF's.

These guys from OI Division, Baker and Billups,  are probably really glad this Olongapo photographer used lousy film.  This just shows how desperate we are for someone else to send us some pictures.

Getting CF to keep his clothes on while on liberty was always a problem.  American Samoa, 1967.

OI Division in Olongapoo in 1968.  I (Carter) was on my way out and doing my duty in escorting these young bucks in to town.  This picture was provided by RIch Aamodt  (2nd from the left).  Others in the picture are Kingi, Secor, Billlups, and far right you can see Baker's glasses.  This proves that I was not the only one whose wife did not force him to burn his pictures!  Way to go Rich!

Rich comes through again with a posed photo, obviously either in Australia or NZ.  Talk about places where sailors thought they had died and gone to heaven.

Liberty was so good "down under" that even Baker could get a girl (to pose in a picture with him)

Above two pictures aside, it looks as if Aamodt, Baker and Doyle were so bored most of the time they had to take pictures of themselves sucking up some whiskey!

Just to prove that he did not chase women all the time, Rich took a picture of some New Zealander's in the Playboy Club in Wanchai, HK.

Remember these kids who used to dive in to the "Shit River" for coins.  Wonder where they are now?
